TECHNOLOGY AND DATING

Do you force yourself to unplug when on vacation.  By learning how to unplug and enjoy life’s different realities, you will increase your ability to innovate and solve problems, in other words help your business, your career, and let’s not forget about your family. They would catch up with each other through minimal but appropriate communication, whereas today, we utilize texting to demand to know who someone is hanging out with or where they are at any given moment. Gone are the days when you meet someone on a first date and learn all about them; instead, it s not uncommon to have already stalked them thoroughly online. If it s even remotely heated, it s best to be said in person. We had our work reality, our home reality, our recreational reality, our church or religious affiliation reality, our vacation reality, and many others. Social media is wonderful on many outlets, but the fact that our whole lives are displayed on the Internet for anyone to see can cause some predetermination issues with dating technology and dating. Our work problems are not far away, they are all only a quick text, email, or call away. With smart phones so readily available, it is no question to text your significant other, or even the person you re casually dating, to see what they re up to. By escaping work and focusing on the home reality, for example, we could come back to work the next day fresh, rejuvenated, and more creative because we had a chance to shift our brain into another zone.
Text messages can make obviously sarcastic comments appear serious, concerned words seem negative, and the worst part–can be easily screen-shotted. Not only can this affect a first impression, but it can also ruin the fun of getting to know someone. Remember, there’s a time to plug in and a time to unplug. Likewise, when you’re with your friends, resist the urge to do a quick check of email during the activity or conversation. Not everyone is the way they may appear on social media, and sometimes, online networking sites can unfortunately create an alternate persona of a person before you even get a chance to meet them. With all this technology at our fingertips, it s inevitable that our interactions with others have changed a bit, and it appears our dating relationships have received a large portion of this change. toddwickersty/Flickr Not too long ago, most people lived a very different life filled with many different realities. Imagine what it was like in a simpler time, when a long-distance couple would share a phone call or receive a letter once a week. While being connected is good, too much of a good thing can backfire. We’d go from work to home to a community activity, from one reality to another, which allowed us to shift gears and put our focus on different things.
If we didn t check up on people so frequently, we might not find out about every little thing they did last night--but maybe that s okay. Being constantly connected has made us not as effective at problem solving, not as good at innovation and creativity, and not so great with friends and family. If you feel you must check your email or text messages, set a time to do it and then turn your device off.office 2016 conditional formatting not updating.
. It s obvious that our technology-driven lives are truly affecting how we date each other. We can only provide direction and teach our future generations what great couples look like, so that happy, face-to-face relationships do not become a thing of the past. Don t get me wrong, I am not trying to completely discredit the app; I know of some very genuine relationships that began with it. This app is not only capable of creating a false sense of how relationships begin, but can sometimes generate vanity in our generation. Our smart phones and tablets allow us to take our email, our work, our games, our photos, our music — basically our entire life — with us wherever we go. As a result, all our individual realities have blurred into one. .
